Dismantling Cultural Narratives That Fuel Burnout
Retreat Intention
This workshop invites Black women to gently unravel the “Superwoman” myth—the expectation to be endlessly strong, self-sacrificing, and capable without support. Rooted in historical survival strategies and reinforced by modern culture, this narrative often disconnects us from rest, vulnerability, and care. Breaking the Superwoman Spell creates space to release inherited roles and reclaim a fuller, more human way of being.
What You Can Expect:
Naming the origins of the Superwoman archetype in survival and resistance
Examining how strength became tied to silence, over-giving, and endurance
Identifying personal costs of carrying everything alone
Practicing permission to receive support, rest, and softness
Reframing strength as honesty, interdependence, and care
Outcomes:
From self-sacrifice → self-honouring
From invisibility → being seen
From endurance → sustainability
From “I got it” → “I don’t have to do this alone”
Healing Practices Include:
Somatic Movement to access truth
Reflective journaling
Group dialogue with clear boundaries and consent
Somatic practices for releasing stored tension
Boundary-setting and support-mapping
Ritual of letting go of inherited expectations
Sound Therapy
Who This Is For
Black women who feel pressure to hold everything together, who are tired of being “the strong one,” and who desire a version of strength that includes rest, truth, and care.
Retreat Affirmation
I am not here to prove my strength. I am allowed to be supported. I choose wholeness over heroics.
